Ben climbed up on the rock as the sun was set and grabbed Gaby’s hand to help her. Her hand would be the one thing that holds him up when he is down, wraps around him after a long shift, that hand will always be there to grasp for the rest of his life. As he pulled her up, he snuck in a kiss. She was his bride, his wife, the day had come finally. The sun was setting in the background and they held each other close as I lifted my camera to capture their love, something that would never set. Ben and Gaby were a couple that happened to find me through a common friend.

They were one of those couples for me that I couldn’t wait to take photos of. Ben is from France and Gaby is from Puerto Rico and their love story started at a resort that Ben was visiting, and Gaby was working at. They ended up in Fort Saint John for Ben’s work. He is a smoke jumper. He literally jumps out of planes in the most remote places to fight wildfires with natural elements, so cool! They wanted to make it official by signing their papers here in Fort St. John and then have their big wedding in France. They had a small ceremony at a friend’s cabin on Charlie lake. Ben and Gaby chose a small group of people to witness their special day. I met them at the after party when they were cutting their cake and in Ben and Gaby fashion, they smooshed it all over each other face. We traveled down to the Beaton River to capture their special evening. The light was so dreamy and perfect for their session. They are such an adventurous couple that anything I asked them to do they were game for! Climbing on rocks, up hills they were happy and so was I! They were such goof balls, but they were goof balls in love that I got to capture. As the sunset I snuck a few shots of them on their bike, Ben’s favorite toy. We played chicken a few times with vehicles, but it was worth the shots!

Ben and Gaby, thank you so much for letting be there to capture both of you and your love for eachother. You are the couple that I know will grow old always laughing with each other and doing some fun thing to show other couples how to keep love young. You are both an inspiration to me and I am so glad that I was able to capture your Canada wedding day!

Alyah walked into the room were her dress was hanging, her mother giving it one final fluff. Alyah’s mom spent hours making her dress from scratch. All the fitting and moments of mom saying make sure you stand still all came to an end and it was finally time for the dress to be put on for the day it was made for. The intricate lace flower stitched to perfection, all the bead work meticulously done was finally going to be put on and worn by the person it was custom made for. The zipper was zipped up and she looked back at her mom. It fit perfect, it looked perfect, it was everything she ever wanted, and she was finally going to get to show her groom.

Rain was to be expected in Cecil lake on their wedding day but the cloud moved and the sun broke through just before the wedding party made their way to the alter. The ceremony was held outside on Amais family farm. The guests they invited were all meaning people in their life and you could tell when they all greeted them in the receiving line after the ceremony. There were lots of meaningful words and joyful tears shared. Amais and Alyah’s love was truly something to relish in. Their love impacted those around them. Their love for each other was so evident but their love for others was just as clear. They were so intentional with meeting those that came to their wedding and thanking them for being there. Their guests were so in love with their love and so was I!  The reception was tastefully decorated with burlap and mason jars, the farm wedding essentials. They made them their own by adding touches of mementos from their relationship. A quilt with empty squares was their guest book so that they would forever be able to wrap themselves in the love from friends and family from the most important day of their lives.

Amais and Alyah, your love is truly stunning. I know that you both will impact lives around you and share your whole heart with who ever is open to it. I will always remember your wedding day as a day that wasn’t just for you to but for those who were apart of your day. You took time to love on everyone that was there and made sure everyone felt like their presence was meaningful to you. It was a joy to see both your hearts for each other come together. I know that you both will do amazing things together and I am so blessed to be able to watch. I wish you both the best with your next steps in life, loving each other and loving others.
