Fort Saint John Maternity Session Style Inspiration

Living in Fort Saint John has posed a bit of a learning curve for me as I am from the South and the “style” up here is a bit different. A little bit more relaxed a rugged but I honestly fit quite well here. I was never one to dress up nice unless there was a special occasion. It wasn’t until I became a photographer and got education that I saw the importance of paying attention and being picky about what you wear in a photo shoot!

Shay and Jesse will be welcoming there new little one this May; they travelled from Chetwynd for our session and I was so honoured that they did! I have been working hard and educating myself on how compose the best photos but what I have been learning is that outfits play a HUGE role in how the photos turn out! I have been working hard on making a style guide for my maternity clients so that when they see their photos, they will LOVE how they look! There is a huge difference between when a momma to be wears pants and a shirt to wearing a long maternity gown!

My hope in making the style guide is that it will empower and educate my clients for our photo session. I now how nerve wracking it is trying to figure out what to wear for a photo session. Instead of spending hours on your decision, with my style guide, it will be easy made in a couple minutes! Did you know there are colours that compliment your skin tone as well? All the things I didn’t know until I educated myself and I am going to pass on that education to you! Here is a short excerpt from my style guide!

“When choosing colors for your outfits, I recommend selecting softer, lighter tones and more muted shades. By avoiding ultra-bright, bold colors, it will help bring all the attention to your faces and let the eye focus on the way you feel about each other. The camera loves shades of soft pink and muted blues, mixed with sophisticated light neutrals like heather gray, creams, leather brown and white. That softer color palette fits beautifully into almost all-natural outdoor environments.”
